Tan Quang Minh Manufacture and Trading Co., Ltd. – Bidrico Receives Green Business Certification from HCMC

Numerous enterprises in the food and beverage industry compete by ensuring food safety and hygiene for consumers. However, that alone is insufficient. To persuade both domestic consumers and global customers, manufacturers must also engage in environmentally friendly production practices.

Proud

The “Green Business Award – Third Edition 2012,” presented to Bidrico by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, and various departments including Natural Resources and Environment, Science and Technology, Finance, and Industry and Trade, along with the Management Board of Industrial and Export Processing Zones and the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association, stands as a testament to the company’s commitment to producing high-quality products while also protecting the environment.

To earn this certification, businesses must demonstrate relentless efforts in environmental protection. Companies are required to fulfill their community responsibilities by properly managing waste generated during production, employing dedicated environmental officers, maintaining clean and green landscapes, and researching and implementing advanced technologies and cleaner production solutions.

Bidrico has embraced a strategy of investing in technological innovation to enhance productivity and product quality, adhering to criteria that prioritize consumer health and environmental friendliness. Through continuous creative efforts and understanding local consumer psychology, Bidrico consistently invests in and upgrades technology, proactively applying ISO-standard management and production processes. The company has also invested in dedicated storage for hazardous waste, as well as state-of-the-art exhaust and wastewater treatment systems, which have been recognized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

Bold Investments

Environmentally friendly production has significantly contributed to Bidrico’s global market expansion. Since 2007, Bidrico has exported its products to Germany and Canada. In 2009, it entered the Asian and Middle Eastern markets. By 2011, Bidrico’s beverages were available in 14 countries, including Japan. In December 2012, Bidrico products were exported to the United States, receiving FDA, FCE, and SID certifications from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

To meet export demands as well as domestic consumption, Bidrico has invested in expanding its production capabilities. The production capacity of its PET bottle (1.25-liter) soft drink line increased by 45%, the 330 ml soft drink line by 165%, and the purified water line by 50%. Currently, Bidrico operates 10 production lines for purified water, bird’s nest drink, drinking yogurt, hot-filled products, and canned beverages (330 ml and 250 ml), including carbonated soft drinks and fruit jellies.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Hien, General Director of Bidrico, noted that despite the general economic difficulties, the company’s consumption levels decreased in early 2012 but surged significantly in the fourth quarter. Overall, 2012 saw a robust growth in production with 180 million liters of products, 20% of which were exported. Bidrico products accounted for 60% of sales volume in rural markets. Even during economic downturns, Bidrico proactively expanded its production, upgraded machinery and equipment, and installed new, fully automated, state-of-the-art production lines.
